Detailed Day to Day Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Trek

Day 1: Fly to Lukla (2840m.) and trek to Phakding (2610m.) 3 hours

After the electrifying 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, we will begin the first step of our trek to Everest Base Camp towards Phakding. Accompanied by our porters and guide, we will trek along the scenic route through Chaurikharka village down towards Dudhkoshi Ghat. We will have a short and pleasant trek, which will also help us adapt to the weather. Rest of the day, we could enjoy the beautiful view of Dudhkoshi River or take a relaxing walk up to Monjo village, just below Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) 6 hours.

We’ll proceed with our trek through the river banks of Dudh Koshi crossing over several suspension bridges. The second day of our Everest Base Camp Trek will come to an end after we have our registered permits at the Sagarmatha National Park check post and walk towards Namche Bazaar through the thick green forest path. This day will one of the most exasperating days throughout the trek as we will witness the majestic Mt. Everest for the first time.

Day 03: Rest at Namche Bazaar (3440m.)

Today will be a relaxing day as we do not have to trek for hours. We will explore the charm of Namche Bazaar and become familiar with the weather and altitude. We can take short walks to the classic monasteries there, look around at how wonderful Sherpa culture and also enjoy the wonderous view of Mt Everest, sipping a cup of fresh warm milk.

Day 04:Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860m.) 5 hours.

After a relaxed day at Namche Bazaar, we will continue with our trek the following day. On the way, we will relish the spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. We have to climb the steep hills and go down, most often but it will be worth the view through the woods. We’ll walk along with a small village Phunki Thenga and can also stop for a short moment to enjoy the view and take pictures. Once we pass the village, we’ll reach our destination, Tengboche. We can visit the nearby monasteries once we’ve freshened up. The biggest monastery of Khumbu region is also located at Tengboche.

Day 05: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m.) 5 hours.

We move ahead with our 5th day of trekking, along the steep path of one of the Sherpa villages, Pangboche. We will come across beautiful flora and fauna on the way uphill and downhill to Dingboche. Once we reach Dingboche, we will see the ancient prayer wheels and beautiful fields surrounded by stoned walls which will immediately make us forget about our tired feet and look forward to the next day.

Day 06: Rest day at Dingboche (4410m.)

To adapt to the altitude, one day stay at Dingboche is a must. We can also go for short hikes toward Amadablam, or Island Peak and Lhotse to enjoy the marvellous views, which in turn helps us for our trek in the following days.

Day 07:Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m.) 4- 5 hours

We start our 7th-day trek by climbing towards Thukla. You can enjoy the prayer wheels and wall as well as some yaks grazing in the open fields along the way to Lobuche. Once we reach Lobuche, we are welcomed by the Sherpa hospitality in their lovely stoned huts where we will be spending the night.

Day 8: Trek from Lobuche to via Gorakshep (5140m.) 3 hours.

Gorakshep is the last overnight stop on Everest Base Camp Trek. We will be surrounded by gigantic snow-covered mountains all around. Another alternative could be to trek from Lobuche directly to Mt Everest, but if you want to relax and enjoy the view, adjust a bit more to the climate, then we can stop and Gorakshep for the night, which will make our excitement to reach the base camp ten times more.

Day 9: Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp (5364m.) and back to Gorakshep 5 to 6 hours

Today will be the most thrilling and memorable day of all days as we head towards the highest base camp to leave our mark there. We will be trekking amongst the majestic snow-capped mountains and will see several memorial statues and stones along the way. Finally, after more than a week of the trek we will reach our ultimate destination, Everest Base Camp where we will spend some time, take pictures and just enjoy the regal beauty. We will bid our farewell and return to Gorakshep for the night.

Day 10: Short hike to Kalapatthar (5545m.) back to Gorakshep and trek to Pheriche (4210m.) 5 to 6 hours.

We will take a short hike to Kalapatthar early in the morning to enjoy the marvellous sunset and the panoramic view of the mountains and the majestic Everest to the closest. We will head back to Gorakshep and prepare for our further trek to Pheriche where we will stay overnight.

Day 11: Trek from Pheriche to Tengboche 5 hours.

We will descend towards Tengboche beginning the end our trek, We will cross the bridge over Imja Khola and walk along the path through the woods and reach Dingboche. We may come across a few steep climbs and then we will finally reach Tengboche.

Day 12: Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar 5 hours.

We go on down towards Namche Bazaar walking through the forests where we will come across species of wildlife and rarely a snow leopard. We will enjoy the views every once in a while when we turn our heads to see the glorifying Mt Everest. Once we’ve reached Namche Bazaar we will rest for the night and prepare ourselves for tomorrow to end the trek.

Day 13: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla .7 hours.

We will bid farewell to the lodge owners and others we’ve made friends with and head back to Lukla. We will be staying overnight at Lukla to celebrate and reminisce about our adventurous trek and smile at how far we made. We will once again, prepare for our flight back to Kathmandu the following day.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu.

According to the flight schedule, we will head to Tenzing Hilary Airport. Although we would want to stay a bit longer we all have to say goodbye to our journey to Everest Base Camp. With an experience that could change your lives now, we will head back to Kathmandu in most thrilling 40 minutes flight.

Everest Base Camp Trek is truly a lifetime experience that gives you an opportunity to explore the Nepal Himalayas along with rich culture, landscapes, flora and fauna and the true warm hospitality of Nepali people.
